How to Adjust Unequal Pressure on Both Ends of a Hydraulic Press Brake Bending Machine

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Some users may find that during operation, the bending machine exhibits uneven pressure. This uneven pressure can cause the upper and lower molds to experience unequal force, resulting in discrepancies in the bent products and affecting the normal production activities of the company. So, what should users do when faced with unequal pressure on both sides of the bending machine?

The main causes of uneven pressure in a bending machine can be attributed to two factors: internal adjustments needed within the machine and external influences.

External Causes: If heavy objects near the bending machine are causing uneven force on the sliders of the working cylinders, simply removing the heavy objects will restore the normal movement of the sliders on both working cylinders, resolving the issue.

Checking and Adjusting the Bending Machine:

  1. Check the Hydraulic System: Ensure that the hydraulic system is functioning correctly. Check the oil level and quality, and confirm that there are no leaks or other faults. Use proportional pressure control and compensation methods within the hydraulic system to control the speed and pressure of the sliders by adjusting the control voltage of the proportional servo valve.
  2. Inspect Clamps and Tools: Ensure that the clamps and tools are correctly installed and adjusted on both sides to guarantee even and stable workpiece holding. If the upper and lower molds are not parallel, this can lead to excessive pressure on one side while the other side remains normal. In this case, use an adjustment device to align the upper and lower molds in parallel. Uneven tool wear can also lead to different pressures, so tools should be replaced regularly.
  3. Examine Sensors and Feedback Systems: CNC bending machines are typically equipped with sensors and feedback systems for detecting and controlling pressure. Check that these sensors and systems are functioning properly and correctly calibrated.
  4. Adjust Hydraulic System Parameters: CNC bending machines usually offer options for adjusting hydraulic system parameters. Access the control panel’s hydraulic settings or parameter adjustment section to find options related to pressure. Attempt to adjust relevant parameters, such as hydraulic cylinder speed and oil path valves, to balance the pressure on both sides. After adjusting the hydraulic parameters, perform pressure tests and observe the changes. Based on the test results, gradually fine-tune the hydraulic parameters until the pressures are relatively balanced or meet the workpiece requirements.
  5. Deflection Compensation and Pressure Compensation: Set a deformation amount that counteracts the direction of the force applied between the slider and the upper mold or the working table and the lower mold to achieve compensation for the slider and working table.
  6. Adjusting the Reaction Force of Servo CNC Bending Machines: Adjust the pressure on both sides through the machine’s reaction force method, setting two compensation values based on the properties of the material and the degree of bending.

If the above methods do not resolve the issue, it is advisable to contact the manufacturer or technical support team of the CNC bending machine for professional advice and assistance. They can provide detailed guidance and adjustment methods specific to the model and configuration.
